Greenhouses: Helping People Help Themselves

Genesis Farms: A Win-Win-Win-Win Deal: Genesis Farms provides 1) improved nutrition for our orphans, 2) self-sustaining, long-term profitability, 3) vocational training for our youth and 4) employment for Nigerians. Genesis Farms will significantly improve the overall care of our orphans while also contributing significant financial assistance toward our ongoing programs: school fees, housing, food, general care and the cost of running our 20 Care Centers, which serve nearly 400 kids and hundreds of other needy Nigerians.
Each new 6 x 60 meter greenhouse produces over 22,000 pounds of vegetables annually, will yield revenues in excess of $8,000 per year, can be built in less than three weeks, and only costs $7,000! Additionally, we already have a significant, long-term purchasing contract for our produce from the Hilton Hotel in the capital city of Abuja.
The farm is already a great success for several reasons: 1) Demand: All of the food produced by the farm is in high demand all over the country and in particular many of Nigeria’s largest cities and businesses. It is a seller’s market, and often those who want the produce will even come to the farm to pick it up! 2) Low Competition: There are very few commercial farms in the entire country. Major hotels and other businesses are in dire need of plentiful, high-quality, consistently available produce. 3) Inexpensive Labor - Although we pay our workers above-average wages, labor is very inexpensive in Nigeria. Genesis Farms profit margins are very high. 4) Peter Fretheim is the Supervisor of Genesis Farms. He and his family have served in Nigeria for the past ten years. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication/Business Administration from Pepperdine University, and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.

How You Can Help: This program is an investment—like teaching people how to fish rather than just handing them a fish! Every size gift helps, but please consider donating funds, either on your own or through a collective effort from your company, your colleagues, or your church group for a new greenhouse ($7,000).
Please never underestimate the impact a small group of thoughtful and dedicated people can have upon the world.
